Exploring Vivo’s Latest Innovation: The X300 Ultra

Vivo, a leading Chinese smartphone manufacturer, has been making waves in the world of smartphone photography with its innovative technologies. However, the availability of its flagship phones, such as the X200 Ultra, has been sporadic in Western markets.

Introducing the X300 Ultra, Vivo’s first global flagship launch, the company is set to redefine smartphone photography once again. While details about a US launch and pricing are still under wraps, the X300 Ultra promises to be a game-changer with its focus on larger camera sensors and advanced photography specs.

Teaming up with Zeiss, Vivo has equipped the X300 Ultra with a cutting-edge “triple prime lens” camera system featuring 85mm, 35mm, and 14mm equivalent focal lengths. The device can zoom up to 400mm equivalent with the new Zeiss Telephoto Extender Gen 2 Ultra, offering unparalleled versatility in photography.

Notable features of the X300 Ultra include an 85mm equivalent 200-megapixel telephoto camera with optical image stabilization, a high-performance APO camera for color correction and stabilization, and a 35mm equivalent Zeiss “Documentary” camera optimized for low-light performance.

The X300 Ultra boasts a powerful video recording capability, supporting up to 4K 120fps 10-bit log video and Dolby Vision. Vivo promises “film-like” color performance straight out of the camera, with the option for advanced editing with 10-bit log video support.

Emphasizing its focus on video capture, Vivo has introduced a new “pro video mode” on the X300 Ultra, offering enhanced monitoring features and support for custom LUTs. The device’s log format is compatible with ACES workflow, making it seamless to integrate with professional cinema cameras.
