Down Under Delight: Ford Bronco Roars into the Australian Outback
The highly-anticipated Ford Bronco is making its way to Australia, but with a twist. Instead of the rugged off-roader many were expecting, the Australian market will be receiving the Chinese-built Bronco New Energy, an extended-range electric SUV with impressive features and potential affordability.
According to CarExpert, the Bronco New Energy is expected to arrive in Australia by late this year or early 2027, with pricing estimated to start around $48,000 and go up to just under $60,000. Another source suggests a starting price of around $55,000.
This new model, built in China by JMC Ford, Ford’s joint venture with Jiangling Motors, is set to offer a combination of a combustion engine and electric motors, similar to plug-in hybrids. The Bronco New Energy is said to have a significant driving range of close to 1000km, with an electric driving range of nearly 200km.
Despite the name, the Bronco New Energy is not a direct replacement for the traditional Bronco model. It is based on a monocoque platform and offers a more refined interior and advanced features. The SUV is expected to have some off-road capabilities, with options like all-terrain tires and various off-road modes.
With its arrival, Ford Australia aims to address stringent emissions regulations and provide a more eco-friendly option in its lineup. The Bronco New Energy is equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine and a large battery pack, offering a balance of performance and efficiency.
The SUV’s arrival is crucial for Ford Australia, as it looks to diversify its lineup and meet evolving market demands. By offering a lower-emissions SUV with an extended electric range, Ford hopes to attract a wider range of customers and make a significant impact in the Australian market.
While final details such as pricing, specifications, and release timing are yet to be confirmed, the potential for the Bronco New Energy to become a key player in Ford’s lineup is promising. With its combination of performance, efficiency, and affordability, this electric SUV could be a game-changer for the brand.
In conclusion, the Ford Bronco New Energy represents a new era for the iconic nameplate, combining electric power with practicality and modern features. As Ford continues to innovate and adapt to changing market trends, the Bronco New Energy could be a sign of exciting things to come.
