Perplexity’s Personal Computer turns Windows PCs into AI agents

Perplexity Introduces Personal Computer Tool for Windows

Perplexity has recently expanded its agentic Personal Computer tool to include Windows compatibility, allowing users of the world’s most popular operating system to harness the power of locally run AI systems. This new development comes after the successful launch of the Mac version earlier this year in April.

Enhanced Functionality for Windows Users

Personal Computer for Windows functions as a versatile “general-purpose digital worker,” capable of accessing local files and applications to perform various tasks on behalf of the user. These tasks include creating documents, updating spreadsheets, and more.

The introduction of Personal Computer for Windows builds upon the existing integrations with Microsoft’s 365 workspace apps and Teams virtual meeting software, which were launched earlier this year in May. Perplexity aims to close the gap by enabling the agentic tool to operate seamlessly within the Windows environment, catering to enterprise work that traditionally occurs on Windows devices.

According to Perplexity’s press release, Personal Computer for Windows allows Microsoft users to streamline their workflow by accessing local files, Microsoft Office 365, and the web all in one place. This tool is specifically designed to accommodate the complex nature of enterprise work that often takes place on local machines.

Subscription Details and Data Security

Personal Computer for Windows is now available to paying Max and Enterprise Max users, with subscription tiers starting from $200 per month. Perplexity emphasizes that the tool does not train on company data and ensures user transparency by notifying them before executing sensitive actions like sending emails or deleting files.
