Exploring the Volvo Performance Lineup: Evaluating the Entry-Level EX60, High-Performance P12, and Cross Country Models
The highly anticipated 2027 Volvo EX60 is gearing up for its launch in Australia later this year, with plans for an expanded range already in the works. Volvo has confirmed that the EX60 P6 RWD Ultra and the P10 AWD Ultra will be part of the initial lineup, but there are discussions about introducing a high-performance P12 AWD variant and a new entry-level model for the Australian market.
The P12 model is set to feature the same dual-motor, all-wheel drive setup as the P10, but with increased power outputs of 500Nm and 790Nm, resulting in a quicker 0-100km/h acceleration time of just 3.9 seconds compared to the current 4.6 seconds.
Additionally, Volvo is considering the introduction of the EX60 Cross Country, which will come equipped with higher-riding suspension, adaptive dampers, all-wheel drive, and a more rugged exterior design. This model is targeted towards individuals who may require a vehicle for rough country roads and muddy terrains, such as farms.
Initially, the Cross Country will be offered with the 375kW/710Nm powertrain from the P10 model, but there are plans to eventually introduce a more powerful P12 powertrain option.
Furthermore, Volvo Australia is exploring the possibility of introducing a lower entry-level grade below the EX60 P6 RWD Ultra. This variant, likely to be named the P6 RWD Plus, is expected to bridge the gap between the base model and the higher-end variants. In the UK, the P6 Plus is priced £5500 lower than the P6 Ultra, indicating a potential price range of between $79,000 and $83,000 for the Australian market.
As Volvo continues to expand its EX60 lineup, customers can expect a wider range of options tailored to different preferences and needs. Stay updated on the latest developments and explore the Volvo EX60 showroom for more information.
