Article Summary

  • An exclusive BMW M3 Lime Rock Park Edition, one of only 200 ever made, is currently up for auction on Bring a Trailer, boasting a mere 26,000 miles on the odometer.
  • This Fire Orange E92 M3 comes equipped with reported upgrades worth $52,600, including BBS wheels, carbon-ceramic brakes, and an Akrapovič exhaust system.
  • The rare 2013 special edition combines unique styling elements, Competition Package enhancements, and BMW’s iconic 414-horsepower V8 engine.

The E92 BMW M3 has already solidified its status as a modern classic. With its naturally aspirated V8 engine, hydraulic steering, and traditional driving feel, it stands out as one of the most coveted M cars of the past two decades. However, certain examples hold a more special allure. Case in point: the 2013 BMW M3 Lime Rock Park Edition currently listed on Bring a Trailer. Among just 200 ever produced, this Fire Orange coupe has clocked a mere 26,000 miles and features an array of aftermarket upgrades. With over $50,000 reportedly invested solely in modifications, this E92 M3 is anything but ordinary.

Extensively Enhanced M

While the Lime Rock Park Edition was already a standout vehicle from the factory, this specific model takes things up a notch. According to the seller, the enhancements amount to approximately $52,600, with the parts roster resembling a premium lineup of BMW aftermarket components. Notable changes include the striking Satin Bronze 20-inch BBS FI-R wheels, valued at $9,500 by the seller. The car also boasts retrofitted OEM carbon-ceramic brakes with gold calipers, Öhlins Road & Track DFV coilovers in place of the original suspension setup, and exterior additions such as a Euro-spec bumper, GTS-style front lip, and AC Schnitzer rear spoiler.

Beneath the hood, BMW’s 4.0-liter S65 V8 engine benefits from an Eventuri carbon-fiber intake, a CarboProject carbon-fiber plenum, Okada Projects ignition coils, and updated engine management software. An Akrapovič Evolution titanium exhaust system replaces the factory setup, promising an even more exhilarating sound from the high-revving V8 powerplant. Additionally, a YCW carbon-fiber driveshaft has been installed.

Historical Insights

Reportedly, the current owner acquired this M3 in 2024 and has since added around 3,000 miles to the clock. The vehicle comes with comprehensive service records, a clean Carfax report, and even a 2024 feature in der Bayerische magazine. While images from the ongoing auction were not utilized, the car’s listing from four years ago on Instagram was easily located. The vehicle remains largely unchanged, although the mileage has increased by 6,000 miles.

When previously listed, the seller asked for $98,000. The current auction price stands at $49,999, with five days remaining—a figure likely to rise. In a recent sale, a heavily modified example with 24,000 miles fetched $65,000. Another stock car sold for $123,000 in July, albeit with 19,000 miles. The expected outcome for this particular vehicle is closer to the $65,000 mark.

Uncovering the Lime Rock Park Edition’s Distinction

Only 200 units of the M3 Lime Rock Park Edition were crafted for the 2013 model year, marking the culmination of E92 M3 production and honoring BMW’s enduring partnership with the historic Connecticut racetrack. Developed alongside renowned racing instructor Skip Barber, this special edition went beyond a typical M3 with an exclusive paint hue.

Each vehicle was finished in Fire Orange, a color borrowed from the European-market M3 GTS. Standard features included the Competition Package, which brought a 10-millimeter lower ride height, updated electronic damping and stability-control settings, and 19-inch Style 359M wheels. Additionally, BMW included a lightweight Inconel and titanium M Performance exhaust, approximately 40% lighter than the standard version, along with carbon-fiber front splitters and a rear spoiler.

Inside, the Lime Rock Park Edition sported a flat-bottomed Alcantara steering wheel with a blue center marker, special Anthracite and Black upholstery, and a numbered plaque on the center console. Each car also received a unique rear-quarter-window decal depicting Lime Rock Park and a certificate of authenticity. Mechanically, the S65 V8 engine remained unchanged, delivering 414 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. Buyers could opt for a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, with this particular model featuring the latter.

Interested in bidding? Visit the Bring a Trailer auction. The sale for this LRP model concludes in 5 days, though there is a reserve noted, possibly indicating the car will remain with its current owner. However, based on past auctions, it’s unlikely to stay unsold—only one Lime Rock Park Edition listing failed to sell on the platform in the last two years. Happy bidding!
