Subnautica 2: Changing Tides – New Publisher Revealed
Changes in Publisher Listing for Subnautica 2 on Steam and Epic Games Store
A recent development has seen Krafton mysteriously disappearing from the publisher sections of Subnautica 2’s Steam and Epic Games store pages. Unknown Worlds, the developers of the game, are now solely credited as the publishers, with CEO Ted Gill back in charge amidst ongoing legal disputes with Krafton.
In a surprising turn of events, a visit to the Steam and Epic pages of Subnautica 2 reveals the absence of Krafton in the publisher sections, a stark contrast to the previous setup.
According to SteamDB, the alteration on Steam’s platform occurred on April 7th. While Krafton’s name has been removed from the publisher section, it seems to have been added to the ‘Franchise’ section simultaneously. The adjustments on the Epic store listing are harder to pinpoint, but as of March 9th, Krafton was still listed as the publisher.
Queries have been directed to Krafton for clarification. It remains uncertain if these discreet modifications signal a shift in the publishing partnership between Krafton and Unknown Worlds or if they are connected to the legal battle involving the original studio leads.
Following his reinstatement as CEO of Unknown Worlds, Ted Gill finds himself embroiled in legal conflicts with Krafton. The disagreement stemmed from Krafton’s dismissal of Gill, Charlie Cleveland, and Max MacGuire, citing neglect of their responsibilities towards Subnautica 2. The dispute revolves around the game’s anticipated early access launch and the financial incentives tied to its success.
The recent alterations on the store platforms raise questions about their significance. Meanwhile, amidst the changes, an interesting discovery was made regarding attempts to alter the user tag on Steam for Subnautica 2.
