The Unremovable Option: What You Need to Know About the New BMW X5
Innovative Upgrades for the 2027 BMW X5
- The new BMW X5 comes with the unique Individual Clear & Bold option as standard in early models.
- Customers will have the opportunity to order the G65 without the Individual option starting in December, with an estimated cost of €950.
- This option introduces real slate as a decorative surface in the X5, a first in production car design.
Following its recent global debut, the G65 luxury SUV has made its way to configurators across Europe. While initial options are limited to the 40 xDrive and 40d xDrive models, plug-in hybrids and an electric version are set to follow in early October. Exploring the virtual build tool reveals intriguing details about the vehicle.
Despite the limited model range, the configurator offers a wealth of customization options. The base diesel model starts at €95,750, with a slight price drop expected later in the year. Initially, the X5 can only be ordered with the innovative Individual Clear & Bold feature, priced at €950 in Germany. BMW plans to allow customers to opt-out of this feature around December.
BMW proudly introduces genuine slate as a new material in the X5’s interior, a first in the automotive industry. The use of real stone as a decorative element on the center console adds a unique tactile experience for users. The slate finish not only enhances the visual appeal of the interior but also eliminates fingerprint smudges commonly seen on glossy surfaces.
The crystal glass finish on the gear selector and other controls complements the slate trim, creating an atmosphere of sophistication within the X5’s cabin. While some customers may prefer a different aesthetic, the Individual Clear & Bold option will be mandatory for orders placed until the end of the year.
Looking ahead, BMW hints at the possibility of incorporating the slate-and-crystal-glass combination in future models, including the upcoming second-generation X7 in 2027. The brand’s commitment to innovative design is further evidenced by the potential inclusion of the 31.3-inch Theatre Screen in the G67 model, offering a unique entertainment experience.
