Windows 11 Revamped: Enhanced Run Menu, Dark Mode, and Beyond
Microsoft has announced changes to the Run menu in Windows 11, including the removal of the “Browse” button due to low usage. Instead, a new “~\” command has been added to direct users to their user directory.
The new Run menu in Windows 11 is built using code from Command Palette, a tool available through PowerToys that allows users to execute commands, open websites, search files, and more. Windows 11 Insiders can activate the new Run menu in Settings > System > Advanced. A preview version of the updated Run menu has been appearing in test builds since last year.
According to Microsoft’s blog post, collaboration with platform partners has ensured that the new UI surfaces load quickly. The enhancements made to the platform not only improve the speed of Run but also enhance the overall efficiency of the operating system.
