Call of Duty: Warzone is dropping PS4 and Xbox One support later this year

Activision Announces End of Support for PS4 and Xbox One in Call of Duty: Warzone

In a bold move, Activision has revealed plans to discontinue support for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles in Call of Duty: Warzone later this year. This means that players will need to upgrade to a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series S / X console to continue enjoying the popular game once season 6 of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 concludes.

The transition will begin on June 4th, when Call of Duty: Warzone will be removed from the PS4 and Xbox One storefronts, making it no longer available for download. Subsequently, on June 25th, Activision will eliminate the in-game store in Warzone on these older consoles, rendering the game unplayable once Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 season 1 commences.

Unfortunately, players still using older consoles are facing a tough situation, as both Microsoft and Sony have raised the prices of their consoles over the past year. The PS5 and Xbox Series X now cost $150 more than their original launch prices of $499.

Coinciding with this announcement, Activision also revealed the upcoming release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 for current generation consoles. This new title will be available on the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X, as well as on Nintendo’s Switch 2. Notably, this marks the first time a Call of Duty game will be launched on the Switch 2, following a 10-year deal between Microsoft and Nintendo as part of the Activision Blizzard acquisition.
