Preview on iOS 27 inherits fun easter egg from iPadOS 26

iOS 27 Introduces Interactive Loupe Feature

Apple has recently unveiled the latest version of its operating system, iOS 27, which comes with a new interactive loupe feature. This feature was initially introduced in the Preview app on iPadOS last year and has now made its way to iOS devices.

The Preview app, which was first launched on Mac in 2001, has undergone several redesigns over the years. The app’s icon originally featured a magnifying loupe with photos underneath, but in last year’s Liquid Glass redesign, the photos were removed, leaving only the loupe.

Basic Apple Guy has compiled a visual history of the Preview app’s icons from 2001 to 2025, showcasing the evolution of the design over time.

With the release of iOS 27, Apple has brought the interactive loupe feature to the iPhone and other iOS devices. Users can now slide the loupe across the app’s main screen, causing the text and content beneath it to distort and respond to the movement of the loupe.
