Twitch CEO Reveals Plans for GTA 6 Online Release in 2027
Twitch CEO Confirms Exciting Future for Streamers with GTA 6 Online
Amidst the speculation surrounding the highly anticipated GTA 6 Online, Twitch CEO Dan Clancy has shed some light on the matter. While Rockstar and Take Two have remained tight-lipped about the existence of a GTA Online 2 or GTA 6 Online, Clancy’s recent comments have sparked excitement among gamers and streamers alike.
During a conversation with journalists at the Tokyo Game Show, Clancy revealed that he had productive discussions with Rockstar, hinting at a significant boost for streamers on the Twitch platform. According to Clancy, GTA 6 is set to make a splash in the gaming world in the coming months, with the multiplayer component not expected until 2027.
“We spent a lot of time talking with Rockstar about their plans and how they can engage our creators. You are going to see this big bump with GTA 6, but then an even bigger one next year when they launch multiplayer.”
While Rockstar has clarified that Grand Theft Auto VI is primarily a single-player experience, the anticipation for a new GTA Online remains high. Take Two CEO Strauss Zelnick assured investors that GTA VI is slated for release in November, with ongoing support planned for GTA Online post-launch.
Reflecting on past releases, there has been a pattern of a delay between the launch of a Rockstar game and its online counterpart. Grand Theft Auto V, for example, debuted in September 2013, with GTA Online following shortly after. A similar timeline was observed with Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online.
Looking ahead, there is speculation that GTA 6 Online could potentially be a standalone offering, separate from the single-player experience. Take Two may explore options such as bundled access or special offers for players who purchase the main game. While these details remain undisclosed, it presents an intriguing possibility for the future of the franchise.
