Alpine’s Plans to Enter the American Market

Since 2023, Alpine, a renowned French sports car manufacturer, has been strategically planning its entry into the competitive American market. Despite facing setbacks due to tariffs imposed by the previous administration, the company remains steadfast in its ambition to establish a presence in the United States.

In a recent interview with Auto Express, Philippe Krief, the CEO of Alpine, reiterated the brand’s aspirations, particularly fueled by the imminent release of the Alpine A110 Electric sports car. Additionally, there are talks of introducing a larger performance SUV to cater to the American consumer base.

Krief emphasized the significance of expanding beyond the A110 model to appeal to a wider audience in the US market. He mentioned, “We will be ready to go to the US with APP. We need to go to the US with the A110 because this is the heart of Alpine. But in the US, maybe it won’t be enough for dealers and our partners to sell.”

Initially, there were discussions about developing a larger SUV tailored for American preferences. Krief expressed concerns about deviating too far from the brand’s essence, stating, “We certainly need a model with higher volumes, but we don’t want to make the mistake of going to the US with a big car that is outside the DNA of the brand.”

Currently, Alpine’s largest offering is the A390, a compact electric crossover positioned slightly below the Porsche Macan electric vehicle. Recognizing the demand for compact EV crossovers in the US market, Alpine aims to introduce a larger electric vehicle to rival the Porsche Cayenne, providing a complementary option to the A110.
