Nearly 569,000 Hyundai Palisades Recalled After Tests Reveal Third-Row Passenger Safety Risk

Hyundai Palisade SUVs Recalled for Safety Issue with Third-Row Airbags

Hyundai is recalling nearly 568,576 Palisade SUVs due to a problem with the third-row side curtain airbags failing to deploy properly, potentially compromising passenger safety in the event of a crash. The recall, documented with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), specifically affects Palisade models manufactured between 2020 and 2025. Interestingly, this is not the first time the Palisade has been subject to a recall, as a previous issue related to seatbelt concerns was addressed in September of last year.

According to the recall report, the side curtain airbags in the Palisade may not adequately protect third-row passengers’ heads during a collision. NHTSA raised concerns after a 2025 Palisade model failed to restrain a safety dummy in the third row during a compliance test conducted between April and December of that year.

Multiple compliance tests were conducted by both Hyundai and NHTSA to identify the issue with the deployment of the side curtain airbags in the third row.

Hyundai is currently working on a solution to rectify the faulty rear airbags. Once the remedy is finalized, affected owners will receive notification from Hyundai detailing the steps they need to take. This will include instructions on how and when to visit their local dealership to have the necessary repairs performed. Hyundai has also committed to covering any expenses incurred by owners who attempted to address the issue independently.

Owners who are concerned about whether their vehicle is included in the recall can easily check the NHTSA website using their vehicle’s VIN number.
