Clean up aura and gossip with curious characters on a mysterious ship in the very 3DS era Zelda-esque Bel's Fanfare

Bel’s Fanfare: A Unique 3DS-Era Zelda-esque Game

When it comes to nostalgic 3D retro aesthetics, the original PlayStation and Nintendo 64 often come to mind. However, there is a refreshing change in the form of Bel’s Fanfare, a game that draws inspiration from more recent consoles. In this game, players take on the role of Bel, a little demon girl working as a cleaner on a mysterious, massive ship.

Armed with nothing but a funny-looking shield, Bel’s specific task is to clean aura, a mysterious substance that stems from impurities of the soul. This glowy substance manifests when individuals experience anxiety, sadness, or trauma. As players navigate through different rooms inhabited by “otherworldly beings,” they must help these characters deal with their problems.

The developers of Bel’s Fanfare openly acknowledge the game’s inspiration from early 3D Zelda games. This influence is particularly evident in the game’s visual style, reminiscent of the 3DS remasters of Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask. In terms of combat, players engage in more blocking than attacking, offering a unique twist on the Zelda-inspired RPG genre. The gameplay involves absorbing aura in bullet hell battle rooms, drawing parallels to the mechanics seen in Undertale.

The game features diverse and charming environments, allowing players to interact with a colorful cast of characters. From gossiping to setting up dates and catching fish, there are plenty of activities to engage in. Additionally, mysterious elements like “???” add to the intrigue of the gameplay. As Bel’s Fanfare is currently funded on Kickstarter, players can anticipate its full release and wishlist it on Steam for future access.
