Preview of Black Myth: Zhong Kui – Game Science’s Latest Action-RPG

Game Science has recently released a captivating trailer showcasing their upcoming game, Black Myth: Zhong Kui, which serves as a sequel to the popular Chinese mythology-based action-RPG, Black Myth: Wukong. Despite featuring a new protagonist, Zhong Kui maintains the same thrilling combat and gameplay elements that made its predecessor a hit.

The trailer delves into the gameplay, highlighting the new protagonist engaging in intense battles against mystical creatures reminiscent of FromSoftware’s signature style. Additionally, viewers witness the protagonist embarking on various adventures such as building a raft, rescuing a damsel in distress from a submerged location, and defeating a formidable boss with the help of a companion or a powerful summon. The trailer also showcases light-hearted moments, including fishing escapades and whimsical interactions.

Accompanying the video is a poignant poem in the description box, adding depth to the narrative of the game:

With blood beneath my blade, I paint new rouge upon my face,
An old friend visits, in a dream taking place.
Old faces, bygone deeds, have vanished from my sight,
Still, I remember every one, by day and through the night.
Those bound by love grow old; the righteous road runs long;
Today’s notes of grace or grudge define not the final song.
Who says the Underworld is far away?
All the better – once more I’ll walk along.

The poem adds a layer of mystery and intrigue to the game’s storyline, hinting at themes of redemption and perseverance.

Delving into the lore behind the game’s title, Zhong Kui, players are introduced to the character’s origins as a renowned scholar during the Tang Dynasty. Despite facing rejection due to his unconventional appearance, Zhong Kui’s tale takes a dark turn as he meets a tragic end. However, he is later appointed as an “evil-dispelling judge” and the King of Hell’s “great marshal for dispelling evil and pacifying ghosts,” shedding light on the character’s transformation into a formidable force against malevolent forces.
