Jennifer English Steps Down as Voice of Gwendolyn in Tides of Annihilation

Renowned voice actress Jennifer English has made the difficult decision to step away from her role as the voice of protagonist Gwendolyn in the highly anticipated game, Tides of Annihilation. Eclipse Glow Games, the developer of the game, has confirmed this news.

English cited personal health reasons for her departure from the project, informing the studio of her decision in June. Despite leaving the role, English will continue to be involved with the game in an advisory capacity. Her notable roles include Shadowheart in Baldur’s Gate 3 and Maelle in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

In a statement, Eclipse Glow Games expressed their support for English’s decision to prioritize her well-being. They also mentioned that English played a key role in helping the studio and other cast members find a suitable replacement to portray Gwendolyn authentically.

Although the new voice actor has been selected, their identity has not been revealed to the public yet. Eclipse Glow Games praised the actor for their impressive performances in recent video games, particularly highlighting the effort they put into understanding the character of Gwendolyn.

Recording for the game’s upcoming demo at Gamescom 2026 is currently in progress. Attendees of the event will have the first opportunity to hear the new actor’s performance, with additional content featuring their voice set to be released through official channels in August.

Tides of Annihilation is an action-adventure game inspired by Arthurian legends, set in a modern London devastated by ruin. Players will control Gwendolyn, who has the ability to summon spectral knights to aid her in battles against otherworldly foes and massive roaming giants.
