Sony Announces Closure of PlayStation Store on PS3 and PS Vita by July 2027
Sony has recently revealed its plans to shut down the PlayStation Store on the PS3 and PS Vita platforms by July 2027. This decision comes after a previous attempt to discontinue the service in 2021, with the company now citing the need to update payment processing standards as the main reason for the closure.

According to Sid Shuman from Sony, the PlayStation Store on PS3 will be phased out earlier in certain countries. For instance, in Mexico, Honduras, and Nicaragua, the closure will begin in August 2026. Additional Latin American and Middle Eastern countries will see the store closing in late 2026, while all other countries will follow suit in July 2027.
Shuman acknowledged that the news may be disappointing to players who have a special attachment to the PS3 and PS Vita platforms. These consoles represent an important era in PlayStation history, making the decision to close the stores a challenging one for Sony.
