Still hoping to snag a Steam Controller after it sold out? You'll have to literally join a queue to get one

Valve Introduces New System for Steam Controller Orders

Are you eagerly waiting for your Steam Controller to arrive? Valve has launched a new system that can provide you with an estimate of when you can expect to hear about your order. While the estimate may fall within one of three broad windows, it gives you a rough idea of where you stand in the queue.

Valve acknowledged that the demand for Steam Controllers has exceeded their initial expectations since the launch last month. To streamline the process and provide a more detailed timeline for reservations, Valve has implemented a reservation queue system. This not only makes it easier for customers but also helps Valve plan ahead and expedite the delivery process.

According to Valve, they have no intention of discontinuing the production of Steam Controllers. However, considering the current demand and production capacity, they want to manage customer expectations regarding delivery timelines. Customers can now log in to the Steam Controller page to view an estimated time window for receiving an email about their order. The three timelines provided are by September 2026, by December 2026, and in 2027.

Valve opted for these three timelines to simplify the process. Customers assigned the 2027 window will receive additional information about specific timing later on. New customers placing orders from now onwards will also be shown an estimated window, likely in 2027 due to joining the back of the queue.

Upon receiving the email notification about their reservation, customers have 72 hours to proceed with the order before Valve moves on to the next person in line.
