Xreal and Google’s Project Aura Glasses Collaboration Nearing Release
Exciting news for tech enthusiasts as the Project Aura glasses collaboration between Xreal and Google is inching closer to becoming a consumer reality. The much-anticipated second Android XR device, now named the Xreal Aura, is now available for reservations at $99, with a scheduled full launch in the US, UK, Japan, Canada, and South Korea expected later this Fall.
The Xreal Aura marks a significant development following Google’s initial Android-powered XR device, the Samsung Galaxy XR headset, which debuted at $1,799 in October 2025. While the exact price of the Aura remains undisclosed, described by Google as “a headset disguised as glasses,” consumers can look forward to purchasing it from Best Buy once it hits the market. Additionally, early birds reserving within a two-week launch offer will receive a $199 credit towards their purchase, resulting in substantial savings.
In a recent announcement regarding the deposit scheme, it was revealed that the Xreal Aura weighs less than 95 grams and is equipped with the cutting-edge Snapdragon Reality Elite chip, Qualcomm’s latest XR platform. This innovative chip, in conjunction with Google’s Android XR, promises enhanced immersive experiences, superior performance, advanced intelligence, and optimized power consumption, as stated by Qualcomm’s XR head, Ziad Asghar.
Further excitement awaits as Xreal plans to showcase the Aura glasses at the upcoming Augmented World Expo, taking place from June 15th to 18th in Long Beach, California. Stay tuned for potential new details and insights following this event.
