Sega Announces Crazy Taxi: World Tour Multiplayer Closed Network Test

Sega has revealed plans for a Crazy Taxi: World Tour Multiplayer Closed Network Test set to take place in September. This event will showcase two multiplayer modes from the anticipated arcade taxi racing game revival, which is scheduled for release in 2027.

As part of the announcement, Sega has also unveiled a new trailer highlighting the West Coast map featured in the game.

Interested players can sign up for the closed network test until August 31st. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to participate in the test from 1AM BST on September 11th to 1AM BST on September 13th. The test will be accessible on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

The closed network test will include two multiplayer modes: Pickup Race and Cops ‘N’ Cabbies. In Pickup Race, up to 6 players will compete to drop off as many passengers as possible within a specified time limit. Cops ‘N’ Cabbies will involve players split into two 3-person teams competing against each other.

Players can expect two maps, four characters, six cars, and various tune-up options in the game. The West Coast map draws inspiration from San Francisco, offering a diverse range of potential customers and unique delivery scenarios.

Crazy Taxi: World Tour, announced alongside new Jet Set Radio and Golden Axe titles in 2023, promises to deliver the classic Crazy Taxi experience with modern graphics. Developed by original Crazy Taxi creator Kenji Kanno, the game will feature a new story-driven campaign where players embark on a global taxi driving adventure to reclaim their stolen cab from masked villains.
