Ghent-based Donna Secures €4.1 Million in Funding for International Expansion

Donna, a Ghent-based developer of a proactive AI assistant for field sales teams, has announced a new funding round of €4.1 million ($4.8 million) to accelerate its international expansion efforts. The funding round is led by Frontline Ventures, with participation from existing investors and a group of seasoned angel investors.

Nicolas Christiaen, co-CEO and co-founder of Donna, emphasized the importance of supporting field sales teams, stating, “Field sales teams have been neglected for far too long. They’re under pressure to do more with fewer resources, yet the tools designed for them have barely evolved. Donna changes that by briefing you before every meeting, capturing every detail during, and handling the admin after, allowing field sales teams to focus entirely on their customers.”

Recent funding activities in the European AI-driven sales and CRM tooling space provide context for Donna’s €4.1 million round. Other startups, such as Spiich Labs in Sweden and Genesy AI in Spain, have also secured funding for their AI-powered solutions.

Donna’s focus on field-sales automation sets it apart from early-stage generalist assistants and broader CRM platforms, making its funding round a significant addition to a maturing market where specialization and real-world operational integration are increasingly important.

Introduced in 2023, Donna is an AI assistant tailored for field sales professionals who are constantly on the move. Donna’s AI capabilities reportedly save field sales teams up to 75% of admin time while enhancing CRM adoption and data quality, leading to a potential 20% increase in close rates.

Donna has evolved from a voice-to-CRM solution into a multimodal, always-on AI assistant that anticipates the needs of field sales teams and automates daily administrative tasks in real-time.

According to Bob Stutz, a CRM pioneer and industry expert, Donna’s ability to listen, interpret, and respond in real-time during sales conversations distinguishes it from other solutions in the market.

The new funding will be utilized to further enhance Donna’s product leadership and expand its go-to-market operations in Europe and the United States. The company has already established a presence in New York, London, and Ghent, with plans for additional hires across Europe and North America.

Jonas Deprez, co-CEO and co-founder of Donna, emphasizes the role of AI in elevating human-to-human interactions in B2B businesses, stating, “AI shouldn’t replace human interaction; it should enhance it. With Donna, we demonstrate that AI can be deployed quickly and at scale in real-world operations.”
