The BMW M3 Touring 24H: A Unique Racing Wagon
- Following its impressive fourth-place finish at the Nürburgring 24 Hours, the BMW M3 Touring 24H is set to make an appearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend.
- This one-off wagon is equipped with the powerful BMW P58 race engine, delivering close to 600 horsepower.
- In the coming months, the M3 Touring 24H will be showcased at the Tutto Bene Hill Climb event in Italy and the MotoGP race in Spielberg, Austria.
The Goodwood Festival of Speed is known for its diverse lineup of cars, and this year is no exception, with the unique BMW M3 Touring taking center stage. Originally conceived as an April Fool’s joke in 2025, the 24H version quickly became a reality after just eight months of development, with the car being built in a mere eight weeks.
Derived from the M4 GT3 EVO, the M3 Touring 24H is a true racing machine adapted for the wagon body style. Its victory in the SPX class at the Nürburgring 24 Hours and impressive overall finish marked a historic moment for the Schubert Motorsport team and drivers Jens Klingmann, Connor De Phillippi, Ugo de Wilde, and Neil Verhagen.
While its endurance racing chapter may have concluded, the M3 Touring 24H is far from done showcasing its speed. This weekend, it will take on the famous hill climb at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where its performance is sure to captivate spectators. Beyond its racing capabilities, the wagon also serves as a race taxi, complete with an optional passenger seat.
The Impressive Dimensions of the M3 Touring 24H
Beyond its striking appearance and performance capabilities, the M3 Touring 24H boasts impressive dimensions, measuring 5.2 meters (204.7 inches) in length, comparable to the previous-generation long-wheelbase 7 Series. Notably, the driver’s seating position has been adjusted for improved accessibility, while the wide body design gives it a width of 2040 millimeters (80.3 inches).
Powered by the potent P58 engine, a modified version of the road car’s S58, the M3 Touring 24H delivers nearly 600 horsepower and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque. This power is efficiently transmitted to the rear wheels through a six-speed sequential transaxle gearbox.
The current owner of this exceptional vehicle is M enthusiast and car collector Rainer Bonnetsmüller. Enthusiasts can look forward to witnessing the M3 Touring 24H in action at the upcoming Tutto Bene Hill Climb in Italy and the MotoGP race weekend in Spielberg, Austria.
