DeductiveAI Acquired by Elastic for Up to $85 Million

DeductiveAI, a startup utilizing AI technology to detect and address software bugs, has reached an agreement to be purchased by enterprise software firm Elastic for a potential sum of $85 million, as disclosed by a knowledgeable source.

Established in 2023, Deductive emerged from stealth mode in November last year with the announcement of a $7.5 million seed funding round led by CRV, along with investments from Databricks Ventures, Thomvest Ventures, and PrimeSet. The startup was valued at $33 million following this investment, according to PitchBook.

Despite several attempts, both Elastic and Deductive have remained silent on the matter. TechCrunch will provide updates if any response is received from either company.

This acquisition signifies a swift exit for Deductive, which operates within the rapidly growing realm of AI site reliability engineering (AI SRE). The development of AI-powered SRE tools has become crucial due to the significant increase in AI-generated code. By replacing manual debugging with AI capabilities, human SREs can shift their focus from continuous troubleshooting to more productive tasks like product development.

The acquisition trend of established tech giants acquiring AI-native startups to incorporate advanced technologies into their current product portfolios is exemplified by this deal, as per insider information shared with TechCrunch.

Elastic, known for its Elasticsearch search and analytics engine that aids organizations in storing, searching, analyzing, and monitoring vast amounts of data in real-time, could greatly benefit from Deductive’s technology. The integration of Deductive’s AI solutions into Elastic’s observability platform is expected to provide customers with automated performance monitoring and real-time issue resolution capabilities.

Co-founded by Rakesh Kothari, former VP of engineering at ThoughtSpot, and Sameer Agarwal, who has a background at Apache Software Foundation and Meta, Deductive has achieved approximately $1 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR). However, its growth trajectory has not matched that of Resolve AI, a perceived leader in the AI SRE sector. Resolve AI, founded by ex-Splunk executive Spiros Xanthos and Mayank Agarwal, secured a $40 million Series A extension in April, valuing the company at $1.5 billion.
