Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and LGBTQ+ Representation

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has been nominated for awards by Gayming Magazine for its portrayal of the LGBTQ+ relationship between characters Henry and Hans. The game’s creative director, Daniel Vávra, who is also involved in the Kingdom Come movie project, has expressed his pride in the representation of this relationship. Vávra emphasized that the inclusion of the Hans/Henry relationship in Deliverance 2 was done in a non-coercive, natural, and educational manner, reflecting the realities of the Middle Ages without idealization.

Vávra stated, “We made the gay community happy and gave them the CHOICE to be themselves, just like we did for others in other choices and quests, and anyone who isn’t interested probably didn’t even notice.” He defended the portrayal of LGBTQ+ relationships in the game as a positive choice that was not forced upon players. Despite his support for LGBTQ+ representation, Vávra expressed his frustration with what he perceives as forced “woke” content in the entertainment industry.

Vávra has engaged with comments on his post, including addressing speculation about external pressures influencing the inclusion of the Hans/Henry relationship in the game. The discussion around Kingdom Come: Deliverance and its sequel reflects larger cultural debates about the portrayal of diverse relationships in video games.

The recognition of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s LGBTQ+ representation in award nominations highlights the importance of inclusive storytelling in video games. Congratulations to all the individuals involved in creating the Hans/Henry relationship in the game.
