Stay Connected and Catch ‘Em All with Garmin Smartwatches Featuring WhatsApp and Pokémon Sleep Support

Garmin users have recently received two significant updates for free within a week, thanks to WhatsApp and Pokémon Sleep support.

WhatsApp on Your Wrist

For selected Garmin watches, an official WhatsApp app is now available for download from the Connect IQ store. Similar to other platforms, users can read messages, reply using an onscreen keyboard, and even answer or reject calls from their watch.

Pocket(watch) Monsters

Through a collaboration between Garmin and Pokémon Sleep, sleep tracking data from compatible Garmin watches can now be utilized within the Pokémon Sleep app.

As part of this collaboration, two Pokémon Sleep-themed watch faces are now accessible in the Connect IQ store.

One watch face, named ‘Pokémon Sleep: Snorlax & Friends,’ displays the iconic sleepy Pokémon when the wrist is raised, along with fan favorites like Charmander, Bulbasaur, Pikachu, and Squirtle.

The other watch face, ‘Pokémon Sleep: I Choose You,’ allows users to select from 48 Pokémon to feature on the screen, making them feel like a Pokémon Trainer.

These watch faces are not just decorative; they change based on the user’s Body Battery level, providing an indication of their energy levels. Night mode activates an hour and a half before bedtime to signal the user to start winding down.

A Growing Ecosystem

While not available for all Garmin watches, the addition of WhatsApp and Pokémon Sleep support at no extra cost is significant. WhatsApp, in particular, enhances Garmin’s ecosystem, bridging the gap with other leading smartwatches in terms of app availability.
