Nissan Australia Recalls e-Power Qashqai SUVs Due to Power Loss Issue

Nissan Australia has issued a recall for e-Power series-hybrid versions of the Qashqai small crossover SUV, citing concerns that the vehicles could experience power loss. The company has identified a software issue with the Lithium-ion Battery Controller (LBC) that may cause the vehicle to enter a fail-safe mode while driving, potentially leading to a loss of motive power and hindering the vehicle from charging.

According to the recall notice, a loss of motive power poses a safety risk as it could increase the likelihood of accidents, resulting in serious injury or even death to vehicle occupants and other road users.

This recent recall follows a similar one for the X-Trail e-Power this month, which also faced issues with power loss and battery charging. It marks the fifth recall for the current-generation Qashqai, with only the second affecting e-Power variants. In April 2025, Nissan Australia recalled 380 e-Power variants manufactured in 2023 due to a fault that could trigger limp-home mode.

A total of 237 vehicles produced between 2025 and 2026 are affected by the recall. Owners can find the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) list attached for reference. Additionally, the original recall notice is available for review.

Affected vehicle owners are advised to schedule an appointment with an authorised Nissan dealer to have the software reprogrammed at no cost. For further inquiries, individuals can contact Nissan Australia at 1800 035 035 or via email.
